Dr. Tara Douglas
Trust for Tribal Art Culture and Knoweledge
Dear Dr. Tara Douglas,
On behalf of Governor of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. your appeal on providing assistance in financing travel expenses to the producer of the short animated film «How Nyanchedo Myniku Taught a Man to Fly» for participation in the first Tribal Animation Film Festival was reviewed by Yamal-Nenets Department of External Relations and Yamal-Nenets Department of Culture.
The inclusion of an animated film reflecting the folklore of the indigenous peoples of the North in the program of an international festival is prestigious and significant for our region. The Yamal-Nenets Government is carrying out systematic work to preserve the heritage of the ancestors, culture and traditions of the peoples residing in Yamal.
Unfortunately, due to the fact that this event was not planned to be held this year, it is not possible to assist in financing transport expenses for a festival participant from Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug.
At the same time, we are ready to consider alternative ways of interaction between the representative of our region and the audience and delegates of the festival by means of online communication.
I wish success to the festival and hope that this event will become annual dialogue between ethnography and media practice will receive a new vector of development.
Best Regards,
Aleksandr V. Mazharov
Deputy Governor of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug
Director of the Department
